Writing additional posts for article syndication is a great way to attract new readers.
A great article on your website can only generate so much traffic and search visibility on its own. But if that same post was published through other outlets, you could potentially reach so many more readers with your content. Article syndication exposes your writing to viewers who may have never come across your website, and so is a great way to market your website or blog.
Before you begin your article marketing venture, it is important for you to understand exactly what article syndication is. Article syndication is a process where you write articles with links back to your website or to an affiliate site in order to increase traffic to your own website.
Of course this doesn’t stop you from also adding new content to your own website. The articles you write for syndication can include the same themes as what you have already posted yourself, but they should be re-written or collated from some of your other posts into a new, unique article meant for mass distribution. And keep posting fresh articles on your own website that will give these new readers something current to see when they find your site.
In your new syndication article, you will want to be aware of your word count. A good article should not be too long to be entertaining, or too short to be informative. Different article directories want different sized articles as well. Most look for articles between three hundred to eight hundred words, so if you consistently stick with around five hundred, you should be okay.
When writing an article for a specific directory, make sure you are aware of any word count restrictions that may be required. A well-written article may not be accepted because there are not enough words (or too many). Most writing software or content management systems keep track of how many words you are writing as you go, but there are also word counters online you could use.
Adding images and a picture in your article makes it more personable and unique, and viewers like both of those features, search engines as well. Just remember that you need to either take the pictures yourself or legally attain the rights to use someone else’s photo or picture graph.
Create an account on an article directory website. Article directories should never charge for a sign-up. If they do, it is not a reputable company and you should not use it. Only using the sites that are free to subscribe is recommended. Sites that charge are relying in your subscription fee for their profits instead of the marketing and advertising revenue they should be targeting on the back end. You should also research different directory sites and read reviews from other writers. You want to be targeting new readers that will be interested in your content, not a directory site that will send your article to places where nobody will be interested, or reading it at all.
One tip to think about when considering article marketing is that you should write something for syndication using the same process you would if you were writing on your own, except that you may be repackaging some content from your previous posts for this new article. It is still always important to write just as you would speak and then clean up any of the grammatical errors afterward.
Once your article is written, you must proofread it before publishing or submitting it. Of course, modern word processing programs come with spell-checkers and grammar-checkers. But there is also no automated substitute for a careful review by the author. You may still find a word that can be spelled two different ways where a spell-checker wouldn’t flag it, like their or there. Even if your proofreading uncovers no mistakes, it will most likely bring something to your attention that could use improvement.
Article syndication can be a great way to market yourself, your consulting services and your website. Use directories and other websites that accept submissions to enhance your market presence in your selected fields. Some of these sites may also have spots for repeat authors, so you can keep submitting new articles through the same channel.
